Qurbani, also known as Udhiya, is a significant religious practice observed by Muslims around the world, especially during the annual celebration of Eid al-Adha. The term "Qurbani" comes from the Arabic word "Qurb", meaning "closeness" or "nearness," symbolizing the act of drawing closer to Allah (God) through an act of sacrifice. Qurbani involves the ritual slaughter of an animal—typically a sheep, goat, cow, or camel—on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage and the beginning of Eid al-Adha.
